We are seeking a creative and detail-oriented apprentice to join our team. As an apprentice, you will work closely with Daniel in all steps of the landscape design process; planning, proposing, executing, monitoring and maintaining projects, learning and gaining new skills and experience as you go. This is an excellent opportunity for recent or soon-to-be graduates from Landscape Design programs who are looking to gain real-world in the field experience and grow their skill-set to include thriving koi ponds and the increasingly popular world of bonsai. Duties:
- Physical requirements: Must be able to walk on an unstable surface & hillsides when needed on site. Must be able to lift 60 pounds if needed.- Scheduling: Assist in scheduling and follow-up, including new client leads & consultations, owner's site-visit schedule.
- Assist in researching cost items in the marketplace and maintaining overall cost breakdowns and budgets.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of presentations and project plans, including timelines, deliverables, and resource allocation. Candidates will eventually begin designing gardens of their own.
- Assist in coordinating project meetings, including scheduling, agenda preparation, and minute taking .
- Assist in the preparation of project documentation, such as status reports, presentations, and meeting materials.
- Assist in ensuring effective communication and coordination throughout the project lifecycle.
- Assist in tracking project progress against established goals and objectives; Maintain project workbooks & site photos
- Provide administrative support to the project management team as needed.
Experience:
- Experience with or study in horticulture, landscape design, and/or landscape architecture.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Prior customer service experience a plus.
- Bilingual Spanish/English is a bonus, but not a deal breaker.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel); PC or MAC , Keynote, Numbers, CAD.
- Knowledge of project management methodologies and tools is a plus.
- Experience with requirements management, business process modeling, technical writing, conflict management, process mapping, contract management, product management, requirements analysis, or other relevant skills is desirable.
